Now that Dexter‘s final season is upon us let’s have a conversation about Debs. Always been a livewire this one. On the one hand she’s a gutsy committed cop who made Lieutenant in record time. On the other she’s a deranged three-post ment who murdered her boss to save the serial killer brother she wants to bang. *Weighing hands gesture* I think it’s safe to say the jury is out on former-Lieutenant Debra Morgan. And now she’s really out on a limb. Addled on Adderall, doing coke with a scrote borefriend she’s supposed to be arresting and worst of all, working in the private sector Debs really is a pitiful mess. Shooting LaGuerta in the tits has really affected her for the worse and she’s all “I shot the wrong person in that trailer” at Dexter. Yes, but if you shot him you wouldn’t be able to have sex with him, dummy.
It’s not all bad news in Miami Dade because the sunshine state now has a brand sparkling new bench dedicated to Maria LaGuerta. Now fat passers-by can sit down on said bench, sweating like Stuart Hall at a sports day and think “I wonder who that dead skank was?” Debs doesn’t show up to the unveiling. I mean, that would take some brass fucking balls right?
What we do know is that Debs is out of control, LaGuerta makes a much better bench than she did a cop and Vogel is a wackjob with terrible medical ethics who Dexter should kill immediately if he knows what’s good for him
As for Dex he’s got Dr. Evelyn Vogel (Charlotte Rampling) up in his grill. An expert on psychopaths, she reveals that she helped Harry create Dexter’s killer code. So she knows all his dirty little secrets and all she wants in return for her silence is for Dexter to find and terminate the serial killer who’s scooping part of the brain that deals with empathy out of his victims. The killer, dubbed the Brain Surgeon, is taunting Vogel and seems to know her – maybe a previous patient?
Who knows? What we do know is that Debs is out of control, LaGuerta makes a much better bench than she did a cop and Vogel is a wackjob with terrible medical ethics who Dexter should kill immediately if he knows what’s good for him. No way she gets through this season without tasting Dexter’s steel. It’s been a fun if occasionally bumpy ride these last 7 years and I’d like things to work out for Dexter. He made serial murder fun again and for that he has my gratitude.
The verdict: Dying with dignity.
